Trans Liberation Film School

Political education, which is to say aesthetic inquiry, is the ground for radical change. This curriculum gathers some writings on the collision of film, gender, sexuality, and colonialism. That said, the terms “trans”, “queer” and even “film” are contested and reworked in each of their iterations. While this might be frustrating, we believe the instability of categories and how they live differently in their geopolitical spaces is necessary to expose. This reading list is in no way complete, yet we hope that it might help sharpen your analytic tools and deepen your visual investigations. Studying, like watching films, is always best done together and so we encourage you to work through this curriculum with others.

The Trans Liberation Film School modules are designed to be completed individually or in study groups. JAHA launches in a strategic two-phase rollout: a Limited Release of two modules on December 6, 2025, followed by the complete five-module educational series on February 14, 2026, debuting with our online film festival and including potential film excerpts.
